Duration: 2 Days

Venue: Guinness Enterprise Centre

Course Profile:

Screen Training Ireland is launching a Train the Trainer initiative designed to enhance the skills of educators and trainers working in further education, higher education and training.  The initiative is initially focused on targeting skills in the teaching of industry-standard software and processes for animation and VFX.  The initiative aims to bridge the gap between graduate software skills and industry requirements by enabling lecturers, trainers and educators to access professional training and enhance their understanding of current studio pipelines and processes, and enable them to disseminate this knowledge to their students.  In addition, the initiative aims to encourage a deeper level of collaboration and engagement between education and industry.

To kick off this initiative, Screen Training Ireland is hosting a 2-day After Effects course with Mario Bortas of Boulder Media.

This course will introduce the main tools and techniques that will allow participants to develop professional VFX and dynamic motion graphics for film, animation and broadcast.

The course will cover:

  • The workflow and the integration of After Effects with other applications.
  • Creating a Basic Animation of layers, text and masks.
  • Using effects and presets.
  • Tools you need for creating stunning visual effects (creating mattes, removing objects from a scene, rotoscoping and keying techniques and the difference between green and blue screen..etc).
  • Rendering and outputting (the right format for you when exporting directly form After Effects).

Upcoming programmes as part of the Train the Trainer (Animation/VFX) initiative include Nuke, Maya, Pipeline and Workflow, and Toon Boom Harmony.
