IT’S A WRAP FOR RED ROCK PRODUCTION TRAINEES

Monday, June 12th, 2017

It’s a wrap for the seven RED ROCK production trainees who were selected earlier in the year to participate in the RED ROCK TRAINING SCHEME 2017. The trainees were mentored on the third season of the highly popular TV3 soap RED ROCK, immersing them in a real-life TV production.

The RED ROCK TRAINING SCHEME is a partnership between Screen Training Ireland/Irish Film Board, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, and TV3’s RED ROCK.  The scheme provides on-the-job training for new entrants to the film and TV industry, recent graduates and professionals from other sectors whose experience could prove relevant to specific areas of TV production. The scheme also offers continuing professional development for experienced production personnel by providing practical work-based learning and mentoring.

Working on a live production alongside the RED ROCK team provided trainees with the opportunity to gain essential skills and experience across key production departments such as costume, art department/props, production, assistant directing, post production and social media. Trainees gained a thorough insight into the skills and practices required in their specific departments in preparation for work on future productions.

Katherine Murphy, RED ROCK production trainee, costume department said “I spent six weeks working as a costume assistant on RED ROCK. It was a great place to get a grounding in the day-to-day life of a TV set. There were so many willing teachers and wonderful mentors who were so giving with their time and expertise. I feel lucky to have been a part of the RED ROCK family as it has introduced me to the world of TV production.”

The trainees who completed the 2017 programme are:
Art Department/Props – Áine O’Hara
Art Department/Props – Dara Rafferty
Assistant Directing – Emily Roche
Costume – Katherine Murphy
Post Production – Conor Lonergan
Production – Domhnall Doherty
Social Media – Áine Keating
