Screen Training Ireland are delighted to be part of Cruinniú na Cásca a Creative Ireland initiative presented by RTÉ. The festival will take place across four zones in Dublin city and will celebrate contemporary Irish culture and creativity through a variety of live music and dance, art, film and music workshops, talks, readings and screenings and much more.

Screen Training Ireland have worked closely with Foley artist, Caoimhe Doyle on a Foley workshop and with Garry Mc Hugh of Kilkenny-based Young Irish Filmmakers on a filmmaking workshop both of which will take place in Smithfield Square.

Foley Workshop with Caoimhe Doyle

Monday 17th April | 15:30 – 16:10 | Smithfield Square

Caoimhe has worked as a Foley artist on ROOM, MISS JULIE, FRANK, EASTERN PROMISES, GAME OF THRONES, SING STREET and more. She was nominated for an Emmy and won an MPSE Golden Reel Award for season one of GAME OF THRONES.

This Foley workshop will give an insight into the tricks of the trade and how Foley is created. Participants will have the opportunity to recreate the sound of breaking bones, galloping horses, footsteps in the snow, screeching tyres, bird wings and more. The workshop will also include a screening of Foley soundtracks for GAME OF THRONES, SING STREET and TWO BY TWO.

Filmmaking Workshop with Young Irish Filmmakers (YIFM)

Monday 17th April | 17:00 – 17:40 | Smithfield Square

Young Irish Film Makers (YIFM) present an active workshop for teenagers interested in filmmaking as a hobby or career.  How to frame a shot?  What’s the secret to a good script?  These and many other questions will be asked (and possibly answered!) during a fun, interactive workshop designed to get the creative juices flowing.

YIFM have been running practical filmmaking workshops in schools and youth groups across Ireland since 1991 and boast twice Oscar-nominated director Tomm Moore as a former member and patron of the organisation.

Teenagers attending might also be interested in the National Youth Film School, a residential summer film camp for 15-18yr olds preparing for film college or a career in the industry.
