Kyle Balda has been working professionally in feature animation for the past eight years, most notably with Pixar Animation Studios and Industrial Light & Magic.
He began his career in 1999, studying traditional animation at The California Institute of the Arts Character Animation Program. During the Summer breaks of his two years at Calarts, Kyle received additional training during internships with Lucas Arts and Pacific Data Images.
With the success of the special effects in "Jurassic Park" in the Summer of 93, there was high demand for computer animators who had a background in the traditional principles. That Fall Balda joined the crew of Industrial Light & Magic's CG department where he participated in such films as "The Flintsones", "The Mask", "Mars Attacks" and "Jumanji" as Supervising Animator.
After a brief stint animating the Grim Reaper for Peter Jackson's "The Frightners" at Weta Digital in New Zealand, Kyle returned to California to work at Pixar on such films as "A Bug's Life", "Monsters Inc." and as Directing Animator of "Toy Story 2".
Kyle is presently living in Europe where for the past year and a half he has been conducting animation workshops and lectures at various filmschools and conferences around the continent.
