Laurent Bécue-Renard

Laurent studied at the ESSEC school, was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Columbia University and graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris. During the last year of the war in Bosnia, Laurent was in charge of the Internet magazine “Sarajevo on Line”. He also wrote a book of stories “Chroniques de Sarajevo” (1995-96), which first appeared through “Sarajevo on Line”. His first documentary in 2001: ‘De Guerre lasses/War Wearied’ won a host of awards and explored war’s impact on three widows at a rural therapy center. Shifting focus to young men, in ‘Of Men and War’, Bécue-Renard continues to explore war’s psychological aftermath and the collateral damage inflicted on families and communities when soldiers return home. Laurent is currently tutoring and mentoring on the Documentary Campus ‘story-telling’ programme, Crossing Dreams/Crossing Borders.
