Nicky Phelan

Nicky Phelan is a graduate of Ballyfermot School of Animation. After working as a freelance animator, he joined Brown Bag Films® in 2005 where he held many roles on various animated projects. During this time he directed a number of commercials and in 2006 he created, co-wrote and directed the popular short-form animated series Crap Rap for teenagers. The series went into a second season for national broadcaster RTE in 2007. In 2008 Nicky directed the short film Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty which went on to collect 20 international awards including an Academy Award® nomination. More recently, Nicky was Animation Director on the BAFTA-nominated 3D animated television series The Octonauts and will direct the second season which starts production in late 2011. He is currently developing an original adult animated comedy series with a US network as well as a number of projects for children and family audiences.
